During the winter months as a masters student I conducted research focused on the non-breeding ecology of Louisiana waterthrush wintering along streams in eastern Puerto Rico. I used radio telemetry to map home ranges and determine habitat use of Louisiana waterthrush wintering along two streams in the Caribbean National Forest. This research illustrated that Louisiana waterthrush primarily foraged along streams but also spent considerable time foraging off stream in areas where prey abundance was high. This research was the first to identify habitat types other than streams important to Louisiana waterthrush during the non-breeding season.
